New YAS Tweed Jackets Launched for Ladies
Stunning new ladies Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) jackets are now on sale due to popular demand.
Following the runaway success of the men’s tailored YAS jacket last year, the Society has been inundated with requests for a female version.
Tailors and long-time Great Yorkshire Show supporters, Brook Taverner have created two new designs, a fitted, single breasted ladies jacket and for winter days, a heavier weight shooting jacket.
Made from the unique Great Yorkshire Tweed, woven in the Society’s green and gold colours, the new line features all the quirky details that made last year’s jacket a fashion must have.
The iconic white rose sits on the lapel of the fitted YAS ladies jacket, while Yorkshire Born and Bred is embroidered under the collar.
Waterproof and windproof, the YAS ladies shooting jacket is finished with a gold lining which also includes the embroidered Yorkshire Born and Bred slogan.
Woven by Guiseley based Abraham Moon & Son, the jackets are supplied by Brook Taverner from Keighley.
Roger Meeke, Retail Sales Director of Brook Taverner said: “We are all delighted the tweed has been so popular. Not only did demand for the men’s jacket exceed expectations but having the opportunity to expand the range has been really exciting.”
As well as the ladies jackets, the new female lines include two styles of hat: a ladies cap and a versatile soft hat made by Castleford milliners, Lawrence and Foster.
While the new ladies lines take centre stage, there have been additions to the men’s range. Due to the popularity of the trousers and waistcoats featured on last year’s Great Yorkshire Show catwalk, the pieces are now available as separates to complete a YAS three piece suit.
Show Director, Charles Mills said: “We are all delighted at the success of the tweed and every purchase is supporting Yorkshire agriculture as the Society receives a donation from the sales.
“We are very proud of our new ladies jackets and hats and I am really looking forward to seeing them on the catwalk at this year’s show.”
The YAS tweed jackets were unveiled at an exclusive fashion show shoot at Birdsall House, near Malton, which belongs to Lord Middleton, President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
All YAS tweed garments are available to purchase from Eric Spencer of Ilkley and Clarksons in York.
They will also be available from the Great Yorkshire Show from Eric Spencer, Stand number 106 on the President’s Avenue and Clarksons of Petergate, Stand number 338 on the Eighth Avenue.
See the designs on stage at the Great Yorkshire Show Catwalk, with fashion shows daily at 11am, 12:30, 2:30 and 4pm.
