Two-Part Series Spotlighting Great Yorkshire Show to be Screened

 In 2019

For the first time in its 161-year history, a two-part series dedicated to the Great Yorkshire Show is set to be filmed.

The Great Yorkshire Show Show will be presented by Anita Rani and Jules Hudson with special guests Julian Norton and Peter Wright from The Yorkshire Vet.

Leeds-based Daisybeck Studios, the production company behind The Yorkshire Vet and Springtime on The Farm, will film “The Great Yorkshire Show Show” for Channel 5.

Filming will begin in June when the build-up begins as well as filming throughout the Show itself. The programme will go out on primetime national TV in July.

Paul Stead, Managing Director of Leeds-based Daisybeck Studios, said “We’ve been working towards this with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society for the last three years. We’re delighted that Channel 5 have commissioned this celebration of the finest agricultural show in the country for broadcast at the heart of the primetime schedules.

“We’re biased of course but having filmed at The Great Yorkshire Show for Yorkshire Vet specials up to now, we’re thrilled at the chance to produce highlights programmes that capture a much broader array of competitors and contributors. We aim to cover the best of the best across livestock and produce as well as featuring crafts and country pursuits on display around the Showground in Harrogate. It’s as much about the people and their passions – whether they be animals, cheese, cake, gin or goods made from Yorkshire materials. It’s a real opportunity to show the rest of the country why THIS country show is simply so fabulous. We hope the audience come to it and our greatest wish is that this could become an annual fixture in the TV schedules in the way that the Chelsea Flower show is.”

Daisybeck has filmed at the Great Yorkshire Show previously as part of The Yorkshire Vet but this time Channel 5 will broadcast two one-hour programmes to celebrate this landmark show.

Show Director Charles Mills said: “We are absolutely delighted that Daisybeck will be filming with us, taking the Great Yorkshire Show into the living rooms of people right across the UK.

“This is not only tremendous publicity for the Show but will also give an insight into the organisation that goes into delivering such a large-scale event as well as the wonderful people involved in making the Great Yorkshire Show the iconic event it is today.”

The production team will be at the showground right across the event, meeting the visitors, exhibitors and getting in among the action.

The series will be a celebration of all aspects of the three-day event: animals, mouth-watering food, arts, crafts, outdoor activities… all set against the idyllic backdrop and bustling crowds.

Daisybeck would like to hear from anyone exhibiting at the Show – from showers, growers, furniture makers, pie people, cheese producers and maybe even the next big thing in agricultural technology. Please contact: Leasha.Waddingham@daisybeckstudios.com

The 161st Great Yorkshire Show will be held on Tuesday July 9th to Thursday July 11th 2019
