SPECIAL GUESTS FROM TV’S THE YORKSHIRE VET APPEARING AT COUNTRYSIDE LIVE
TV favourites Peter Wright and Julian Norton will be special guests at this year’s Countryside Live on the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Julian and Peter who star in Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet, will appear on the Main Stage as well as signing and selling their new books in the Tipsy Heifer Pub.
Peter will appear on Saturday October 19 with his newly released book “My Yorkshire Great and Small”, a heart-warming love letter to the places, people and animals of Yorkshire.
Julian will be a special guest on Sunday October 20 with his books including the latest: “On Call with a Yorkshire Vet” a diary-style book, full of short stories and anecdotes, published by Great Northern Books.
This year, TV presenter Julia Bradbury will front the weekend event for the first time. Best known for BBC’s Countryfile and ITV’s Britain’s Best Walks, Julia is renowned for being genuinely passionate about the countryside and outdoor pursuits.
Julia has co-founded with her sister Gina, a free online resource dedicated to the outdoors called The Outdoor Guide (TOG), which will also have a presence at the show.
Stray FM’s Will Smith and Nick Hancock will present the Main Stage as well as providing entertainment in the Tipsy Heifer pub where there will be prizes to be won.
Peter said: “I’m delighted to be appearing at Countryside Live and celebrating all that is great about Yorkshire. I look forward to meeting all our Yorkshire Vet fans at the event.”
Julian said: “I’m delighted to be back at Countryside Live this year. It’s a wonderful event, with lots to see and do for all the family. Come and see me on the Main Stage and in the Tipsy Heifer pub where I’ll be signing books, or for a chat!”
Show Director Charles Mills said: “We have an action-packed programme of exciting events lined up for this year’s Countryside Live. We are delighted to welcome Peter and Julian back to the Showground to meet fans as well as having Julia Bradbury as our special guest for the first time. The event will have a new feel this year with an animal barn and plenty of activities for children which are all FREE once you’re inside. We look forward to welcoming you!”
New for this year are mini tractor rides, a ninja assault course, magic wand making and interactive experiences with velodrome cycling and helicopter flying. There’s also the climbing wall, mini Fodder experience, sausage roll making, dancing sheep and Diggerland to name a few!
Don’t miss farmyard animals with Brimham Rocks Adventure Farm, archery, alpacas, the NFU Discovery Barn with games and activities for the kids, pigs and chick hatching and holding with Eggucation.
Now in its 17th year, Countryside Live usually attracts around 12,000 visitors across two days. As well as family activities, there are 2,000 animals who converge on the showground over the two days to compete.
From horses to honey, pigeons to poultry, sheep to cattle, there are competitions and classes throughout the weekend. There are also stands to browse, horticultural classes and farriery competitions.
Changes have been made to improve the layout of the event with cattle being brought back into Hall 2. The White Rose Ring will continue to hold Ridden Coloureds and the Olympia Ridden Mountain & Moorland section followed by a host of TSR (The Showing Register) classes on both afternoons. The Main Ring will see the exciting Northern Show Cross Competitions return again.
